The Oshkosh Convention & Visitors Bureau is a private, non-profit organization that receives funding through the tax dollars generated from Oshkosh hotels.
In 2010, the Oshkosh Convention & Visitors Bureau created a new brand slogan that emphasized Oshkosh as an event destination, “Oshkosh, Wisconsin’s Event City.” Oshkosh stands out among its surrounding cities because of the variety of affordable and accessible events that take place in the city. Various research methods were used to develop a slogan that properly promoted the city of Oshkosh. Face-to-face interviews, phone interviews, stakeholder workshops, community survey, external visitor survey and review of previously conducted research revealed the perception that Oshkosh is an event destination.
Local businesses and corporations who are looking to incorporate the brand, “Oshkosh, Wisconsin’s Event City” into their marketing efforts should look into the Oshkosh Brand Ambassador Program.
