Downtown Art Galleries
Whether you’re touring the city during Gallery Walk, or admiring personal collections on the walls in local cafes; Oshkosh has some astounding undiscovered artist talent. Check out some of our favorite Downtown places to view local artwork.
Art Off Main
Featuring professional and outsider art from local and regional artists, Art Off Main is located in an historic print shop built in 1907. Solo and group exhibits change monthly or bi-monthly. Art Off Main's three exhibit rooms feature beautiful oak woodwork. The original "picture rails" at the 12 foot ceiling allow for a clever cable and hook system for hanging pieces. The center room contains the working safe first used by the printing company. Proceeds from the exhibits benefit Arc - Winnebago County Disability Association, which provides education and social opportunities as well as individual and public policy advocacy for people with developmental and related disabilities and their families.
Art Space Collective
Art Space Collective is a co-operative gallery with thirteen artist members. Each month a single member selects elements for a show, highlighting his own works or those of complementary artists.
Jambalaya Arts Inc. is a place designed for the inspiration and expression of its members and their collaborative projects. Jambalaya is a great venue for local artists to display their art and connect with the community. Members of Jambalaya work in a wide variety of mediums and styles creating diverse artistic offerings. On the first Saturday of each month Jambalaya participates in the Oshkosh Gallery Walk, where they show the artwork created by their members, as well as the work of guest artists.
Matchbook Studio is a cooperative studio space and gallery shared by the artists Cristian Andersson and Beth Servais. While both known for their paintings, they also create drawing, prints, and photos. At one time, families collected matchbooks from the places they visited: hotels, restaurants, and attractions. This collection became a map of their lives. As artists, we create works to remind us of the past and comment on the present. The artworks are now the matchbooks, and the new map.
Pedestrian Arts is a three-dimensional art gallery featuring stained glass. Pedestrian Arts specializes in custom stained-glass windows, lamps, sun catchers, window corners, fan lamps and more. They also feature the work of over 50 artists here in Oshkosh, WI.
